Airport and Public Health Measures

While Airport Procedures and Public Health Measures continue to be updated, we are pleased to share that our experiences both at the Barcelona airport and within the city have been very smooth over the past year. There are however a few items that you should take note of:

  • Proof of vaccination is required when entering the European Union. If you are connecting through another EU country before arriving in Spain, vaccination status will be validated when you first arrive in Europe and again upon your arrival in Barcelona. You may find that carrying a printed copy of your vaccination record (in addition to having the details save on to your phone) may be helpful
  • All arriving passengers must also complete the Spanish Travel Health Control Form prior to landing (Most airlines will check that you have this completed the electronic application before you board the plane). Note: You will need your assigned seat number before you can finalize your application (We would suggest filling out as much of the form as possible prior to getting the airport, if you are unable to fully check-in. This form and additional instructions can be found at https://www.spth.gob.es/
  • We will also all want to remain up to date on the latest COVID-19 safety measures in Spain. These can be found at https://www.barcelona.cat/covid19/en/measures-combat-covid-19-barcelona

Some other considerations for safe and efficient travel:

  • For those of you who have not travelled through an airport in a while, you may notice that the process of checking-in and completing security screening takes a bit longer than during your previous vacations. Staffing vacancies and additional health forms to be inspected have both contribute to delays. Many airlines are also closing aircraft doors to boarding passengers earlier than in the past. We would strongly recommend scheduling a bit of extra time to negotiate the airport and to board your flight with the least amount of stress
  • Taxis are readily available at the Barcelona airport, and throughout city. Drivers are fully fluent in English. Scheduled car service pick-up and drop off at the airport is also readily available.
  • The Euro is the official currency of Spain. All restaurants, stores, taxis, tour providers, etc. take cash or credit cards as payment.
