While we don’t expect that you will have any issues communicating in English during your time in Barcelona, for those who are planning to adventure outside of the usual tourist areas, you might want to consider downloading the Google translate application to your smart phone. Nancy and I have used this tool to translate menus, event posters, and other documents from Catalan to English on our past trips with great success.
For those of you who are not familiar with Google translate, some of the key features include:
